There are a
number of people who love cities they’ve visited at one point of time. Emily
Verrett loved Washington D.C. so much that after she finished with school she
packed up her car and left for D.C. What makes the story even more impressive
is that Emily Verrett packed up her belongings and left without a job waiting
for her and no place to live.
Emily Verrett
traveled to Washington D.C. all on faith that she’d be able to get a job to
support herself. Fortunately, Emily Verrett’s instincts and faith served her
well and she started work in Washington D.C. at a boutique lobbying firm, Denny
Miller Associates, as a Government Affairs Assistant.
It didn’t take
Emily Verrett long before she started to climb her way up in the company. Emily
Verrett eventually took the position of Operations and Events Manager. In this
position it was her responsibility to organize fundraisers and during her time
at Denny Miller Associates, Emily Verrett oversaw more than 20 fundraisers.
Emily Verrett’s
return to Washington D.C. was driven by how much she enjoyed living and working
in the city while she was an intern at the White House. While she was an intern
she worked in the Former First Lady Laura Bush’s office. While her time there
was only a semester long, Emily Verrett knew it was
where she wanted to return to work after she successfully graduated from the
University of Texas. And while she did return to Washington D.C. for work, she
did eventually return to Texas and continue her education by earning her
master’s degree.
