In this position it was her responsibility to organize fundraisers and during her time at Denny Miller Associates, Emily Verrett oversaw more than 20 fundraisers.

Emily Verrett’s return to Washington D.C. was driven by how much she enjoyed living and working in the city while she was an intern at the White House. While she was an intern she worked in the Former First Lady Laura Bush’s office. While her time there was only a semester long, Emily Verrett knew it was where she wanted to return to work after she successfully graduated from the University of Texas. And while she did return to Washington D.C. for work, she did eventually return to Texas and continue her education by earning her master’s degree.

Emily Verrett Worked in the White House

There was a period of time where Emily Verrett could proudly proclaim that she worked in the White House as an intern. This experience has played an integral role shaping her career.
Emily Verrett was accepted to spend the spring semester in 2003 at the White House through the Bill Archer Fellow program where she worked in Mrs. Bush’s office at the White House. The program that afforded Emily Verrett this wonderful opportunity was a result of collaboration between Former U.S. Representative Bill Archer and the University of Texas System. Emily Verrett had been able to take advantage of this program and get her foot in the political door as an undergrad earning her political communications degree from the University of Texas at Austin.

As a student selected for the program, Emily Verrett had to demonstrate that she was not only hard-working and intelligent student, but she also had to demonstrate her professionalism and motivation for success. This program afforded Emily Verrett not the opportunity for her internship at the White House but also enabled her to take classes focused on areas like political policy, economics, and skills of persuasion. These skills related to politics were easily adapted by Emily Verrett and continue to serve her well in her career.

Emily Verrett’s internship was a critical milestone in her career and in the career of student’s everywhere. There are many students participating in a number of internships around the nation but few get to work in Washington D.C. in the office of the former First Lady. Emily Verrett’s experience helped to motivate her to reach more successes in life through her working career.
